Known as “The Millville Meteor,” Michael Nelson Trout is an American professional baseball player. He mainly plays as the baseball center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels of the Major League Baseball (MLB).

Trout grew up in Millville, New Jersey, where he played both baseball and basketball and with a father who was also a talented baseball player. Trout also grew up loving the Philadelphia Phillies, and from a young age, he began playing baseball in a division of Babe Ruth League. During his youth, he was exceptionally recognized for his athletic performance, even having been compared to the great Ted Williams.

With his professional career starting right after graduating high school in 2009, Trout played for the Arizona Angels. Soon thereafter, in 2012, he unanimously won the American League Rookie of the Year Award. With a strong ability to hit pitches low in the strike zone, Mike Trout has also been known to significantly improve his contact rate and slugging percentage when it comes to defending against high fastballs. In the period between 2012 and 2016, he has been rated a valuable baserunner due to stealing 142 bases and achieving a success rate of 83 percent.

Having been awarded the MLB All-Star eight times, the American League Most Valuable Player for three times, and the Silver Slugger Award eight separate times, Trout is regarded as one of the most successful young baseball players of all time. As of 2020, he is only 29 years old.
